'Quake Cottage' visit is shaking experience

Lexington Herald-Leader (Kentucky), Saturday, February 28, 1998

There was a whole lotta shakin' going on yesterday at Turfland Mall.
.....An exhibit called the "Quake Cottage" gave visitors a chance to experience what an earthquake would be like. The exhibit, sponsored by Safe-T-Proof, simulates an earthquake on the magnitude of 8.0 on the Richter Scale.
.....An 8.0 magnitude earthquake rumbled from the New Madrid fault along the Mississippi River in 1812, scientists say. If such a quake happened today, buildings in Lexington and Louisville could receive moderate to substantial damage.
.....The mobile earthquake simulator will be at the Kentucky-American Water Co. Science Fair from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School.
